Gold ball history: This will be Gray-New Gloucester’s fifth time in the Class B state championship. Most recently, Gray-NG lost to Houlton in 2016 by a score of 48-35 but defeated Houlton a year later 35-31 for its first title in school history. MDI will be reaching its sixth title game. MDI has won four titles, three between 2001 and 2003, defeating Gray-NG 42-30 in 2001 and again in 2002 by a score of 51-48. MDI then defeated Greely the following year 58-33 but lost to Lake Region in 2014, 56-47.
