DEAR SUN SPOTS:  I’m a volunteer with Rebuilding Together Lewiston/Auburn and am wondering if you could help us with finding homes to renovate this year. RTLA is a nonprofit organization supported entirely by contributions of time, labor, materials and money. We are dedicated to repairing homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves. Skilled and unskilled volunteers alongside able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner.

The work is conducted on one weekend a year. This year Rebuilding Day is April 27.  RTLA will be accepting house applications until March 31. Applications can be found at River Cities Professional Center, 195 Center St., Auburn. Please see Rachel at the front desk or call her at 207-783-7300.

You can also receive and submit applications through email or download one from our website at: www.rebuildingtogetherla.org or contact us at rebuildingtogetherla@gmail.com.

Volunteers are also needed. If you would like to volunteer, please contact us through the email address above, or call 207-344-3232.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Woman’s Literary Union is getting ready for this year’s Children’s Tea on April 27 and 28. We would like to do a puppet show, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Is there anyone who has these puppets that we could use for this event? We will take great care of them and return them after the event. We will offer a swap of a few tickets to the tea in exchange for the use of your Goldilocks and the Three Bears! Please contact me at 207-577-1784. Thanks.

ANSWER: This sounds fun, and it may be the first time in Sun Spots history that there has been a request to borrow puppets! I’m wondering if some generous crafter out in Sun Spots Land can make some for you. What do you say, readers?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The city of Auburn is pleased to announce plans for a monumental and meaningful Memorial Day Celebration in 2019. The celebration, which is part of Auburn’s year-long 150th anniversary, will take place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, and will feature a special Memorial Day Parade, Auburn’s first ever “Art in the Park” juried art show and much more. Art in the Park will feature cash prizes along with a lovely vendor area for artists to display and sell their work.
