Scott Feldman, owner of Sound Effects in Auburn, takes apart a radio assembly Tuesday in preparation for installing a Bluetooth-compatible radio. As of Thursday, Maine law will prohibit motorists from holding electronic devices while they drive. Devices that are mounted, do not obstruct a driver’s view of the road and require a single swipe or tap to activate a hands-free mode will be allowed. The ban applies to all drivers, even when the operator is at a stoplight or stop sign or is stuck in traffic. Feldman said he had seen an uptick in wireless radio installations since the new law was announced. Andree Kehn/Sun Journal Buy this Photo
