Residents of the emergency wellness shelter at the Lewiston Armory display a sign Sunday to thank the community that surrounds the Central Avenue temporary shelter. Shelter supervisor Megan Parks said residents thought about ways to show their appreciation to neighbors and to Bates College for providing many of the residents with meals. Parks said a second sign is in the works and that residents have plans to pick up trash in the surrounding area. “They are just finding good ways to be good neighbors,” Parks said of the homeless population staying at the Lewiston Armory during the COVID-19 pandemic.
