RUMFORD —Steve Dyment has announced he is seeking election to the Board of Selectpersons.
According to a written statement from Dyment, he has “spent the past year attending as many board meetings as I can to help me understand the mechanics of the select board.”
A member of the Planning Board, he said, gives him an “outlook of things to come. As a selectman I would do everything to bring Rumford forward into the way this town could and should be. Our town must be given every opportunity to grow into greatness again.”
Dyment, who grew up in Mexico, works for a local oil delivery company as a driver, “which enables me to be out and about on a daily basis. I see the good and the bad around town and feel the urgency to improve and adjust some things,” he said.
According to his statement, “I will bring transparency and honesty to you the taxpayers. I will work as a team with any and all committees to ensure we get the best bang for our dollars.” He also said he believes Rumford’s taxes are too high and promised, if elected, to find out why.
