Ryan Mason puts the final screws in a metal roof of a kiosk at the Newbury Street Community Garden in Auburn on Wednesday. Mason, Mohamed Abdikadir, left, and Dustin Child, back center, are learning construction skills through the Take 2 YouthBuild program. Construction supervisor trainer Randy Hutchinson, right, said the Goodwill Northern New England program allows youth to learn skills through on-the-job training while working toward their General Educational Development or HiSET diploma. He said the number of youths he is able to take on site has been reduced by over half because of COVID-19 precautions. There is a huge demand for youth with trade skills, he said, but there are not nearly enough programs for youth to learn them. Daryn Slover/Sun Journal Buy this Photo
