Henry Davenport advisor for the Mt. Gile Teenage Ski Club of East Auburn, was honored recently by members of the club at a surprise party held at the East Auburn Community Building. He was presented a plaque for his assistance to and support of the club. Mrs. Davenport was also present. Michael Duperes. the 1970 club president, was presented a pen set. Following the presentations, members enjoyed dancing and refreshments. The Ski Club has announced that in addition to the regular weekend skiing, the Mt Gile slopes will be open during the entire school vacation period Feb, 20-28.

25 Years Ago: 1996

The First Congregational Church, UCC of Durham, as part of its 200th-year observance, will hold the Sunday worship at 10 a.m. in the Bagley House Inn on the Royalsborough Road. The seed for the First Congregational Church of Durham was sown at a prayer meeting held in February 1774 in the Bagley House (the oldest house in Durham) where plans were made to “gather” a church in Royalsborough.
