David Albert Ruby

FARMINGDALE – David Albert Ruby, 81, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, under the loving care of the staff at the Halldale Manor and Beacon Hospice in Farmingdale, Maine.

David was born in Lisbon on Oct. 6, 1939, along with his twin sister, Diantha, the son and daughter of the late Joseph and Dolly (Hunnewell) Ruby.

David grew up in the Lisbon area and was a graduate of Lisbon High School, class of 1958. He was married to Bonnie French also from Lisbon in 1958 and later started a family with three children, Terry, Scott and Carol. He later married Susan Kelly of Blanchard in 1982 and started a second family with their son, Matthew.

David was a loving, caring and fun father with a love for adventure. Most of our cherished childhood memories with our Dad involved exploring the great outdoors. David spent most of his career as an electrician for the Bangor and Aroostook and Maine Central Railroads. After retirement David designed and built beautiful hand-crafted baskets.

David is survived by his daughter, Terry Fedewa, son, Scott Ruby, daughter, Carol Doyon, and son, Matthew Ruby.

David also leaves behind the following grandchildren, Aaron Fedewa, Erica Fedewa, Maija (Fedewa) Schutter. Kristen (Ruby) Balogh and Margo Ruby. Patrick and Tristine Guerette, Ryan Tucker, and Ciara Doyon.

David leaves behind the following great-grandchildren: Gavin and Tyler Fedewa, Roman Ambrose Balogh; Hudson and Colin Guerette; Caroline and Olivia Cothran; as well as his brother, George Ruby and recently deceased wife Louise, his first wife Bonnie Duryea, and second wife, Susan DeLoia. He was predeceased by his older brother, Joseph Ruby and his wife Betty; his twin sister, Diantha (Ruby) Landry and husband Mike Landry, and two stepbrothers, Otis Nelson and Robert Nelson.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be no funeral service, instead a small celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date.
