Rachel Alexander

STRONG – Rachel Alexander of Strong, Maine formerly of Rockfall, Conn., and Cheshire, Conn., passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Rachel was born July 31, 1992, and graduated from Coginchaug High School. She moved to Strong, Maine and pursued her passion for food and graduated with a culinary degree from Central Maine Community College. Rachel loved baking and experimenting with her talent in food preparation.

Her hobbies included kayaking, hiking and enjoying the beaches of Maine and visiting all the Maine lighthouses with her children. Rachel loved being outdoors and riding her ATV on the local Strong Maine trails. She also shared her avid interest in roller blading with her daughter Sophia.

Rachel was currently employed at the Farmington Diner in Farmington Maine and was also was a trainer of Labradors at her father’s business Huckleberry Hill English Labrador Retrievers LLC.

Rachel is survived by her two daughters, Sophia and Madison of Strong Maine that she loved very much; her father, John Alexander of Strong, Maine, and mother, Susan Dubb of Colchester, Conn.; her brothers, James Alexander (Katie) of Groton, N.Y., and Rowan Beer of Colchester, Conn.; her sister, Sara Beer of Colchester, Conn.; her niece, Amy Alexander and nephew Sam Alexander of Groton, N.Y.; her aunts, uncles and several cousins including relatives in South Carolina; her maternal grandmother, Edwina “Nanny” Watts of Prince Edward Island, Canada; her close friends of many years Joanne Ramos of Waterbury, Conn., and Katie Garcia of Bristol, Conn.; as well as her beloved English Labrador Retrievers that gave her unconditional love and were always eager to romp on the floor with her or play fetch, in particular her Service dog Kokomo that adored her.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Wesley H. Sr. “PopPop” and Mattie Alexander of Cheshire; maternal grandfathers William Rowan Beer and Robert “Grampy” Watts both of Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S Main St., from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services and committal will be held at the convenience of the family in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery.
