ELLSWORTH — Ellsworth Police responded to a Surry Road residence Feb. 18 over a report of a missing child. A relative had called 911 at approximately 11:20 a.m., but it was unclear how long the child had been missing, according to a press release issued by the department.
The child was located inside the parents’ car in a child seat. The child’s mother, Ashley Bragg, 32, of Ellsworth, arrived moments later.
After an evaluation of the child’s condition by emergency medical technicians at the scene, the child was taken to a local hospital for treatment of hypothermia and frostbite. Information on the child’s age and gender were not released.
Following consultation with the Hancock County District Attorney’s Office, Bragg was arrested and charged with Class C assault, Class D endangering the welfare of a child and Class D domestic violence reckless conduct.
The press release also states that the Department of Health and Human Services was contacted and is investigating the incident.
