Madeline l. “Maddy” Libby

MEXICO – Mrs. Madeline l. “Maddy” Libby, 87, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She resided on Alder Street in Mexico and in the last year at Woodland Park Residents in Farmington.

Born in Rumford on July 21, 1933, she was the daughter of Felix and Grace (Jannace) Capponi. She attended Rumford Schools and worked at Bass Shoe and FMI.

Madeline was married in Rumford on Feb. 27, 1953 to Charles Libby Jr. who died in Mexico, Maine on July 22, 2007.

Survivors include sons, Gary Libby and wife Michele of New Gloucester, Phil Libby and wife Jackie of Mexico, John Libby of Mississippi, daughters Charlene “Cookie” Lane and husband Ed of Decatur, Tenn. and Darlene Brann and Mike of Dixfield; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.

Maddy loved her flower gardens and friends new and old. She missed going to the “Church on the Hill” socializing this past year with the new friends she had made. This last year she had an apartment at a senior living facility quote from staff ”she was a loved member of this community who was always the one to circulate a card to be signed for other residents, and the first to welcome new residents”. Mom loved to socialize, Chinese food, and McDonalds.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Demeritt Cemetery in Peru. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford, Maine.
