DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping to find Ashley Michelle Brand who is 24-25 years old. I have a lovely glossy 9- by 12-inch Olan Mills photo of this little girl at age 9 months. There is a “’98 Olan Mills” stamp on the front of the photo. Handwritten on the back of the photo are her name, a date, and her age at the time the photo was taken.

I have no idea where this photograph came from. I pulled an empty mailing envelope from my stash to use and this picture was in it.  I would like to get it to her or her family. My number is 376-4211. — Betty, Lewiston

ANSWER: That’s amazing that you found this photo and I can’t help but wonder how this story will end. Please keep us posted. Sun Spotters, you know what to do. Spread the word!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A very good friend who just passed away left many books on music that are free for the taking. If anyone is interested, please call me at 743-6919. — Mary, Paris

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have many skeins of beautiful yarn and knitting tools that were all purchased at high-end yarn shops and have been waiting for me to be inspired. That’s not happening so I’m giving them away. I am wondering if there are serious knitters and/or instructors out there who would be interested in these items. If so, please contact me at suziedb@hotmail.com. — Susan, Minot

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a piece of furniture, a chest weighing about 150 pounds that I would like to send to my daughter in Hollywood, California. It’s not worth a lot of money, but there are items included in the chest that have sentimental value. I have called familiar carriers and was quoted a price from $800 to $1,000 by all of them. It just seems like an exorbitant amount for one item. Do you or anyone else have any thoughts on how to get this chest transported at a lesser price? There is no hurry for delivery. — No name, no town

ANSWER: One idea is simply to put this request out into Sun Spots Land to see if anyone is making a cross-country trip and would have room for your chest in the vehicle.

Another thought is to look into various freight or parcel companies, rather than moving companies if you haven’t already. Did you check out USPS, FedEx, and UPS? You would have to wrap and pack the chest,  then you may be able to arrange to have the item picked up at your home. To get an estimate, have the information about the weight and dimensions of the chest in its shipping box ready when you contact any of these companies.

There is also a company called upack.com that I found online. You can get an estimate online or by calling 1-844-362-5303.
