The American Committees for the Devastated Franco is looking for women chauffeurs to carry on the work in the Department of the Aisne. An opportunity for the most interesting adventure of her life, as well as for service in a field where there is a desperate need, is offered to any girl who can drive a Ford car, understands the principles of gas engines, and is free to volunteer for six months service overseas. Since the Armistice, the committee has established seven centers for relief work and special service in the north of France. At Soissons, at Rheims, Anizy-le-Chateau, Cours Le-Château, Chavignon, Vic-sur-Aisne, and Blerancourt there are groups of from ten to fifteen American and English girls who are carrying medical care into the field, taking wounded and sick from village to hospital, and supplies of food, clothing, livestock and other necessities to the dugouts and huts of two hundred villages and hamlets.

Three months after winning his second term as mayor, John T. Jenkins announced Sunday afternoon he plans to make a run for the state Senate. If elected Jenkins would replace Sen. Georgette Berube, D-Lewiston, in the District 21 seat she has held for six terms and must vacate because of term limits restrictions. Jenkins mayoral term would overlap his senate term by a year. Jenkins said there are no legal restrictions against holding both offices and, further, it would give him a unique advantage in serving Lewiston. “What it will do is help shape the agenda that is actually Lewiston. Basically, some of the decisions made in Augusta affect our lives, and that would give me a unique opportunity to be a part of that discussion,” Jenkins said.”
