Michael J. Cullinan

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Michael J. Cullinan, 58, of Norway, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, after a long illness.

Michael, a lifelong resident of Norway, was the son of the late John P. Cullinan and Mary E. (Bickford) Cullinan. He graduated from the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in 1980 and received a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Maine at Machias in 1984. In 1996 he married Sandra Ann Bolduc, with whom he spent many happy years until her death in 2019.

Following his graduation from college, Mike returned to Norway, where he was an active member of the Oxford Hills community. He founded and operated his own business, Computer Discovery, which sold and serviced computers and maintained one of the first pages on the internet devoted to community activities in the Oxford Hills. He also oversaw the operations of a longstanding family business, Cullinan Realty, which owns and maintains residential and commercial properties as well as woodlots. In recent years, Mike was a co-founder of C&C Farms, which operated a store on Main Street in Norway that sold all-natural meat and dairy products. In addition to his business activities, Mike was an enthusiastic promoter of Norway and the Oxford Hills and was actively involved in Kiwanis and many other community organizations.

Mike and his wife, Sandy, loved traveling. Among other places, they visited Israel, Ireland, Wales, and England. They often visited Disney World, enjoyed going on Disney cruises, and spent time at Disney resorts. In 2014 Mike and Sandy purchased a second home in Kissimmee, Fla., where they spent the winter months and enjoyed having family members visit them.

Mike was an avid reader and especially enjoyed history. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a very generous spirit. Mike also loved animals and over the years had dogs and several cats who were faithful companions.

Mike is survived by many nieces and nephews; and by his cousins, Henry Knox “Hank” Bickford III and his wife, Vida, of Doylestown, Pa., James “Blue” Bickford and his wife, Diane, of Portland, Ore., Bruce McGovern and his wife, Fabienne, of Katy, Texas, Gene McGovern and his wife, Monica, of Westfield, N.J., and Mark McGovern of Miami Beach, Fla.
