BURLINGTON, Vt. — Ida Kuoppala’s second goal of the game broke a 1-1 tie with 7:13 remaining, lifting Maine to a 3-1 win over Vermont in a Hockey East women’s quarterfinal Sunday afternoon.

Celine Tedenby added a late insurance goal and Loryn Porter made 33 saves for the fifth-seeded Black Bears (8-8-1), who advance to the semifinals on Wednesday at No. 3 Providence.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

UNE 69, UMAINE-AUGUSTA 60: Avery DeBrito sank two 3-pointers during a 14-0 run in the last five minutes as the Nor’easters (1-1) rallied past the Moose (2-1) in Biddeford.

Alex Kravchuk led UNE with 22 points. DeBrito and Ryan Lin each finished with 13.

Jovan Sisovic scored 16 points, Elijah Smith had 14 and Jalaughn Jackson added 10 for the Moose.

(9) IOWA 73, (4) OHIO STATE 57: Luka Garza had 24 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Hawkeyes (18-7, 12-6 Big Ten) to a win over the Buckeyes (18-7, 12-7) in Columbus, Ohio.

BUTLER 73, (8) VILLANOVA 61: Chuck Harris scored 20 points as the Bulldogs (9-13, 8-11 Big East) upset the Wildcats (15-4, 10-3) in Indianapolis.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

SOUTHERN MAINE 69, UNE 62: Victoria Harris and Michelle Rowe combined for 29 points off the bench, leading the Huskies (1-3) past the Nor’easters (1-1) in Gorham.

Harris finished with 15 points and four blocked shots, while Rowe scored 14 points.

Jordyn Franzen and Allie Goodman each scored 15 points for UNE.

MISSISSIPPI 73, (19) KENTUCKY 69: Shakira Austin had 22 points and 12 rebounds, and the visiting Rebels (10-10, 4-10 SEC) beat the Wildcats (16-10, 9-6) for the second time this season.

(20) TENNESSEE 88, AUBURN 54: Rennia Davis scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Vols (15-6, 9-4 SEC) send the visiting Tigers (5-18, 0-15) to their 15th straight loss.

(25) RUTGERS 60, PENN STATE 55: Tyia Singleton and Tekia Mack led a fourth-quarter rally as the Scarlet Knights (12-3, 8-3 Big Ten) beat the Lions (9-12, 6-11) in University Park, Maryland.
