For the town of Paris to pass an anti-mask mandate without any prior notification, so that those of us who live here and pay taxes can give our input, is concerning.
I’ve heard a lot in the news about other towns trying to pass this and causing controversy, and then Paris does so with no public notice? The posted Select Board agenda didn’t specifically mention it. It did say there was going to be discussion of a resolution on an executive order, but there was no indication of what that order was.
If there had been ample opportunity for the public to weigh in, I’d accept whatever the outcome was. But without transparency? No way. If they are willing to pass such a controversial resolution this way, it makes me very concerned about what else they might try to sneak by us in the future.
The town of Paris needs to show its taxpayers more respect.
