Elaine L. Thebarge

ROXBURY – Elaine L. Thebarge, 97, of Horseshoe Valley Road, Roxbury, Maine, passed peacefully Sunday afternoon Feb. 28, 2021. She was born July 19, 1923, to George A. and Lillian B. Emery.

On Sept. 1, 1941, she married Henry Thebarge, Sr. Elaine and Henry are best remembered for their Christian loving marriage and their joy in each other and their family.

Elaine worked in the shoe industry and eventually went into the hospitality business when she and Henry purchased the Marigold Cabins in 1957. Elaine is best remembered for her orange twirls, muffins and always reading a book.

Elaine and Henry enjoyed square dancing for 30 years and traveled to Florida for 16 years. They made many friends across the United States. She will be missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her three children, Wayne Sr. and his wife Sindi of Vermont, her daughter Sherrylee Ames and husband Steve of Maine and Henry Jr. of Maine; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and her bestie, Lisa Thebarge of Maine.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Sr., both parents and her three siblings.

A very special “thank you” to Billie Hodgkins for all the years of loving care she gave to Elaine.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held from the Parish of the Holy Savior in Rumford on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 10 a.m. Masking, social distancing and mass gathering restrictions will be observed. Inurnment will be at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are cared for by Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Road, Jay.
