Guy St. Jean

LEWISTON – Guy St. Jean, 83, of Lewiston, died at home on Friday March 5, 2021 after being diagnosed with cancer in December 2020.

He was born in Lewiston on July 26, 1937, the son of Noel and Anita (Marquis) St. Jean. He graduated from Lewiston High School class of 1956. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy and continued with the Naval reserves until his honorable discharge in 1967.

He married Jacqueline “Jackie” Carrier in 1959 and together they raised three children in the home they built in Lewiston, where he lived until his death. Jackie predeceased Guy in October 2020 after 61 years of marriage.

After the US Navy, Guy began his lifelong career as an electrician, serving as electrical inspector for the city of Lewiston, achieving master certification and eventually starting his own contracting business, “Eagle Electric”. His career as an electrician eventually led to his most proud career achievement in 1972, Electrical Trades teacher at Lewiston Regional Vocational Technical Center. He often demonstrated his dedication to his students by employing them in his contracting business and many would continue on to become electricians themselves. Unfortunately, a stroke forced him into early retirement in 1990. During his time with the Kora Shriners, Guy enjoyed contributing his electrical talents to the production of the Shrine Circus.

From his youth up to his stroke, Guy was an avid and passionate motorsports enthusiast, owning countless classic cars and motorcycles, as well as racing ice cars and dirt bikes. Intrigued by aviation, he also held a private pilot license.

After spending many summers at Popham Beach with their family, Guy and Jackie built a waterfront summer home on Gun Point, Harpswell in 1980, where they would spend the rest of their summers together. In Harpswell, Guy enjoyed sailing, powerboating, entertaining friends and family and simply sitting on his deck in the sunshine overlooking Gun Point Cove and Orr’s Island. He was an avid music lover and music was always playing in his presence.

Guy is survived by his three children, Lise Stone and husband Greg, Renee St. Jean and husband Kim Chasse, Steve St. Jean and wife Leah; his grandchildren Alex Stone, Graham Ratner, Simon Ratner, Lila St. Jean, Noelle St. Jean; and his brother Jacques St. Jean.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 61 years Jacqueline, and his brother Paul St. Jean.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nicholette Erickson and Dr. Bruce Condit for their heartfelt care, concern and guidance during Guy’s challenging final months.

Due to Covid restrictions, services will be private. Condolences and memories may be shared at Pinette, Dillingham & Lynch funeral home: http://www.lynchbrothers.com
