George A. Shaw

LEWISTON – George A. Shaw, 80, of 35 Sylvan Ave., died at his home on Sunday, March 7, 2021, with his three daughters and son-in-law, David, by his side, after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Born in Chambersburg, Pa. on July 15, 1940, he was the son of Douglas and Margaret Brawn Shaw. His family moved to a farm in Woolwich when he was a young boy, and graduated from Morse High School in Bath, class of ‘59.

He joined the Army in 1961 and served until 1964, when he returned to Maine and went to work at Bath Iron Works, where he worked for 40 years in the electrical shop, retiring in 2004.

On August 28, 1965, he married the love of his life, the former Lorraine Derosier, at Holy Family Church in Lewiston. George enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A member of Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, he is survived by his wife Lorraine of Lewiston; three daughters, Diane and husband David Dagneau of Poland, Christine and husband Scott Ivy of Greene, and Linda and husband Mike Danse of Greene; five grandchildren, Megan and husband Adam Frost, Jeremey Dagneau, Brandon and wife Caitlin Dagneau, Benjamin Ivy, and Jessica Danse; a great-grandchild, Lilly Dunn, with one more on the way.

Besides his parents, George was predeceased by a sister, Janet, and two brothers, Douglas and Steve.

The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice for the wonderful care he received.

Visitation will be held at the Albert and Burpee Funeral Home on Tuesday, 9-10:30 a.m., followed by services in the Lower Church of Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica at 11 a.m.
