AUBURN — Four cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Auburn Middle School over the past three days.

They include one staff person confirmed Tuesday, one staff person Wednesday and two students Thursday, Superintendent Connie Brown said.

She said she did not know how many students were in quarantine.

“Because of what (these educators) teach, they affect multiple teams (of students),” she said.

She said that to her knowledge, the Maine Center for Disease Control had not declared an outbreak at the school.

No further information was available Thursday.

The middle school is operating under a hybrid model of in-person and remote instruction. The School Committee voted this week to invite students who are struggling academically or emotionally to return to the building full time beginning Monday.

The school will not reopen fully because of staffing shortages. Some positions are not filled and others have been vacant because educators have been in quarantine.

Edward Little High School is set to reopen fully April 5.
