Barbara (Mullins) Bilodeau

JAY – Barbara (Mullins) Bilodeau, 68, died Saturday, March 20, 2021, peacefully at home, with her family by her side, after a heroic battle with cancer.

Born Nov. 29, 1952, in Augusta, the daughter of the late Theodore “Ted” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Reed) Mullins. She was a graduate of the University of Maine Orono with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She married Michael J. Bilodeau on Feb. 15, 1975, and raised her family in Jay.

Barb began her career as a nursery school teacher at the former St. Rose Nursery School. She was a family advocate at Androscoggin Head Start and a substitute school teacher for the Jay School Department. While Barb enjoyed working with children and her career, she was most proud of her family. Barb was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Barb was overjoyed with the arrival of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. You would always find Nanny (as her grandchildren lovingly called her) reading, playing games, braiding hair, planning adventures and quietly supporting from the sidelines at her grandchildren’s hobbies, sporting events and always saying yes. She loved pastries, cooking, and made the most fantastic themed birthday cakes and whoopie pies. Barb loved to read and was a frequent visitor at the Jay-Niles Memorial Library. Barb never said no to an adventure and enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Time spent at Hills Beach, Disney, Key West, as well as shopping trips with “the girls” were some of Barb’s favorite memories and stories shared. Getting up before anyone else, you would often find Barb enjoying her morning coffee outside in the sunshine. Barb was a quiet, unassuming, patient, calm, kind person, who rarely complained and who’s positive approach to situations are an example for all of us. She is missed by those who loved her.

She leaves her husband of 46 years, Michael J. Bilodeau of Jay, Maine. Her sons, Brent Bilodeau and his wife Tammy of Auburn, Joel Bilodeau and his wife Kristy of Lee, Mass. Her five beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Hannah, Gavin, Reagan, and Orrin, sister, Dottie (Mullins) Hall, Matt and Kathie Bilodeau, several nieces and nephews, as well as two half siblings, Bill Mullins and Brenda (Mullins) Thibodeau. She also leaves extended family and many dear friends. Messages of condolence may be sent to: http://www.finleyfuneralhome.com
