This week the Buzz is moving, adulting and booking.

First up: J.T. Reid’s Gun Shop is leaving its longtime downtown Auburn home on Court Street.

The shop is moving to 989 Minot Ave., to land owned by shop owner John Reid, for added customer convenience and to be able to offer additional services, according to a letter to the city by project architect Noel Smith. The lot is next to Petro’s Ace Hardware.

Development is planned in two stages, with the first being a 2,400-square-foot shop and porch and the second being a target range for customers to test firearms and archery equipment.

Reid hopes to start construction as soon as possible, Smith wrote.

The project recently received site plan approval, according to Eric Cousens, Auburn’s director of planning and permitting.

Who’s ready to build their credit and their network?

Uplift LA is offering an “Adulting 101” series for the first time. The four-part course is broken into: Navigating financials, navigating career, building your network and navigating your life. People can sign up for one part or all four, but space is limited.

The series will feature “inspiration and well-spoken individuals from our community that provide tips, tricks and insight on how the session’s topics can help them better prepare themselves for their current life situations and what might exist for them in the future,” said Uplift LA Chairman Matthew Shaw. “If attendance is good there very well could be another ‘Adulting 101,’ but also the possibility of an extension with an ‘Adulting 202.'”

Everybody wants to be ME

Or at least to visit.

According to Airbnb, Southern Maine has seen the most trip search growth of any locale based on searches for upcoming trips between March and August 2021 versus trips for January to February 2021.

Southern Maine tops a list of 10 locations that also includes Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and Whitefish, Montana.

Airbnb’s calling it “the great outdoors surge for spring and summer.”

Let’s hope it means good things for the months ahead.
