Anthony C. Ridlon

OXFORD – Anthony C. Ridlon, 69, passed away at his home on March 22, 2021, after a second courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on Aug. 22, 1951, to Coleman C. and Viola M. (Edwards) Ridlon in Lewiston.

He grew up in Mechanic Falls, where, at the age of 14, he met his wife, Pauline. They were married five years later and raised two daughters, Linda and Billie Jo. Having lost his parents at a young age, he and Pauline also raised his younger brother Dennis from the age of 12.

In 1972, Tony started a career blasting dynamite and setting telephone poles for Palmer’s Construction out of Minot. He was proud of his work and loved his job. He worked there for 22 years before retiring at the age of 43 with a severe neck injury. Throughout those 22 years, he worked alongside his two brothers, several nephews, cousins and other men who became lifelong friends. Whether it was funny mishaps, life events or dangerous days on the job, if Tony and his buddies were reminiscing, you could bet it happened while working together at Palmer’s.

He worked construction all over Maine and taking day trips to the parks and beaches he’d seen along his work travels was one of his favorite family activities. He also loved to work on cars. He spent countless hours working on his own cars and anyone else’s in need of repair. The vast amount of mechanical knowledge, advice and guidance he passed down was and always will be unmatched and appreciated in the eyes of his family and friends.

Tony and Pauline moved from Mechanic Falls to Oxford in 1997 after finding and proudly buying their perfect forever home. There they celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary before Pauline’s passing in 2007. Anyone close to Tony and Pauline knows their lifelong love story did not end there and will forever continue now they are together again.

Tony is survived by his crazy lovable 8-year-old dog and faithful friend, Clyde; two daughters, Linda Clukey and husband Todd and Billie Jo Ridlon and partner William Cunneen; grandchildren, Amber Sky Clukey, Trevor Goodrich, Jacey Goodrich, Emily Goodrich and Darien Goodrich; great-grandchildren, Arabella and Maverik; brother, who he raised like a son, Dennis E. Ridlon and wife Vicky; sister, Cheryl Ridlon; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline, brother, Frederick Ridlon and sister, Sheila Foye.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, March 27, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main Street, Oxford. Masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Online condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com
