Republicans defend our Second Amendment right to bear arms. Democrats defend our 24th Amendment right to vote.

America’s Constitution guarantees our right to bear arms and our right to vote. Democrats do not want to take our guns away. They want to stop mass shootings and senseless killing through regulations, registrations and some restrictions.

Republicans are trying to restrict our right to vote through gerrymandering districts and new voting requirements that make it harder to vote. Since losing the election Republicans in 43 states are trying to make it harder to vote through new restrictions. Restrictions that limit days, hours, and methods of voting like drop boxes, early and mail-in voting. Georgia’s bill would make it a crime to give free food and drink to people standing in line for hours waiting to vote.

Voting should be easier, and purchasing a gun should be harder.

The Declaration of Independence says, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

I believe my right to life is more important than someone’s right to own an AR-15 assault weapon. Our founding fathers used muzzle loaders, not machine guns.

Our right to vote should be expanded, not restricted.

AR-15s should be taken off the street. Americans are not safe in grocery stores, schools, movie theaters, churches, bars or anywhere.

Americans deserve life and liberty while pursuing happiness.
