Crestholm Farms operated by Leslie, Suzanne, and Brian Hall  has been selected as the 1996 Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District Cooperators of the year. The Halls have been involved with the district since Oct. 1, 1966, when they bought their farm on Route 26 on Pigeon Hill in Oxford. At that time they had a few beef cattle. In 1974 they took the plunge by building two new barns and started a dairy operation on Jan. 1, 1976. They began with 42 cows that they walked through the fields on Christmas day from Suzanne’s father’s farm Evan Thurlow, long-time supervisor for Oxford Co. SUCD. From that time until the present they have done a lot of work on the farm and have expanded their operations to over 100 cows over 60 percent being registered Holsteins. The farm includes vegetables, a roadside market, a petting zoo and an ice cream stand.
