Janice N. (Frost) White

LEWISTON – Janice N. (Frost) White, passed at the age of 84 years young after suffering from chronic illnesses. She was born in Augusta, Maine, on Nov. 21, 1936, the daughter of Norman and Ellen (McTaggart) Frost.

As a child she lived in Monmouth with her parents and siblings. Growing up she helped to support her mom and five siblings after the death of her father when she was a teenager. She worked by picking green beans, potatoes, and apples all while attending school. Janice later met the love of her life Donald White Sr. and they were married Dec. 24, 1954, in Chesterville. They lived for several years in Monmouth where they had three sons. Janice and Don soon built their dream home in Leeds and raised their three boys together. Janice worked until retirement in 1994 at Fosters Manufacturing in Wilton. Her family was her world and she would do anything for them.

Janice helped care for her mother-in-law and her mother in their family home until they passed away. Both her husband and mother died in 1996. Janice then turned her attention and love to her children, grandchildren, and later great-grandchildren. She was always up for a new adventure or car ride, and she loved to spend time with her friends in the neighborhood, Nellie, Jean, Caroline and so many more. Janice was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Winthrop, VFW Auxiliary in Augusta, and also a member of the Leeds Community Church.

She loved attending VFW dances, functions, and parades. Janice was a devoted wife, loving mother, amazing grandmother, and wonderful friend. You could often find her surrounded by friends and family at their Leeds home with bonfires, cookouts, and loud country music accompanied by off-key singing.

Janice was predeceased by her husband, Donald Allen White Sr., her parents, Norman and Ellen, her siblings, Jesse, Beatrice, Corrine, Bradley, and Charlene.

Her memory will continue to live on in her three sons and their wives, Donald Jr. and Joni White, Roy and Judi White, and Richard and Linda White, as well as her nine grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

Janice’s family would like to express their gratitude to Daleen and all of the amazing staff at Montello, as well as Dr. Boutaugh. Thank you for your care, compassion, and for being the family Janice needed especially during COVID. We would also like to thank Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice for their care and support.
