Roger “Pepere” Marcel Reny

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Roger “Pepere” Marcel Reny, 90, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday at home surrounded by family. He was born in Lewiston, the son of Lucien and Estelle (Corriveau) Reny. He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1950.

He served in the Navy on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt in the Korean War from 1950 until 1953. While raising his family he was employed with the post office for 30 years and visiting nurse for 10 years. He devoted his life to his community and served two terms on the Old Orchard Beach school board. His heart was always on the field umpiring and coaching baseball and softball.

He was the patriarch of the family with a huge heart, and truly embodied what it meant to be a gentleman. Roger was entirely devoted to his wife, Anita, for 65 loving years. Encapsulated by his final words, “I love you then, I love you still, I always have, I always will.”

With a deep-rooted passion for sports, and the adoration of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he never missed a sporting event. Fully summed up by his iconic license plate, “2KDSGMS”.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lucien and Estelle; his brothers, Guy, Gill, Paul and Andre, his sister, Jackie.

After 64 long years, Roger is now reunited with his first child, “Baby” Roger.

Surviving are his loving wife, Anita (Beaulieu) Reny; his brother, Bobby Reny and his wife Pat of Lewiston, his sister, Justina of Old Orchard, and his sister-in-law, Janine Reny of Old Orchard; his children, Michael Reny and his wife Fern of Tucson, Richard and his wife Penny of Biddeford, Roland and his wife Sharon of Saco, Steven and his wife Joyce of Biddeford; his grandchildren; Ashlie and her husband Doug, Zachary, Chelsea and her husband Shawn, Nicholas, Derek, Haley, Nathaniel, and Alexander. His great grandchildren; Brayden, Bryce, Lucas, Paytyn, Brody, and Sierra.

Friends and relatives may call Monday April 19, 2021, from 5-7 p.m., at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday April 20, 2021, at 11 a.m., at St. Margaret’s Church, Old Orchard Beach, followed by military honors.

Burial will be at a later date.
