Pauline L. Fortin

LEWISTON – Pauline L. Fortin, 85, of Lewiston died Tuesday April 13th, 2021. She was born in Lewiston to Roland and Angelina (Nadeau) Levasseur on Oct. 10, 1935.

After completing her education, she married Reginald J. Fortin of Brunswick on Sept. 1, 1956, after his separation from the U.S. Navy. They raised four children and once they were no longer babies, there was usually a dog in the house.

Once the youngest started school, she became a teacher at St. Dominic Regional High School where she taught business courses and then English for nearly three decades. After teaching, she kept busy with employment in the secretarial and business fields.

When Mrs. Fortin finally retired from paid employment, then she really began to volunteer! Literacy Volunteers for more then 20 years, as a weekly cook in a homeless shelter, as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector in her Parish; and, she led women’s prayer groups for decades.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, camping, antiquing, CHIPS and ICE Cream.

Survived by her children: Catherine M. (Roger) Chaisson, Anne D. Horne, Paul W. Fortin, Rachel L. Fortin, nine grandchildren, two great-grandsons, sisters-in-law, Dorothy C. Levasseur and Prudence Brandenburg, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald, in 2016, her brother Robert in 1988 and her parents.

Funeral will be at Holy Trinity Church 67 Frost Hill Avenue in Lisbon Falls on Saturday April 24, 2021, at 1 p.m., with visitation with family and friends for one hour before mass. Please note during this pandemic Maine CDC requires all attendees to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing.
