100 Years Ago: 1921

The sale of the land and buildings now occupied by the Lewiston Trust Co., at 55-63 Lisbon street to Eugene L. Dunton was reported yesterday. The price named in the report was $65,000, of which $30,000 was for the land. In about two weeks the Trust Co. will move to its new building. A short time ago Bates College sold the lot and its rights in the building to the Trust Co. The building is of granite, three stories high. It has a frontage of 25 feet and extends from Lisbon street to Lisbon street alley.

50 Years Ago: 1971

Members of a committee planning a reunion of all graduates of Lewiston High School in June held a meeting Tuesday night at the high school. Planning members present were Diane Raymond Noel, Lynda Rowe Janelle, Janice Calahan Costello, Marguerite Sullivan Drury, Nancy Cyr Beilegarde, Ellen Thibault,  Virgilyn Mayo McCann, Adeline Bryant Saucier, Mrs. M. L. Bickford, Thomas E.. Delahanty, Principal Isadore Shapiro of Lewiston High School, Robert Connor, Michael McFadden and William P. Tewhey. Not able to attend the meeting were Ann McCray, Robert Provencher and Richard Gibson. The reunion, an all-day affair, will be held at Poland Spring Saturday, June 12.

25 Years Ago: 1996

An “English Afternoon Tea, ”sponsored by the 200th Anniversary Committee of the First Congregational Church, UCC,” in Durham will be held at the Bagley House on  Saturday, Serving times are 2, 2:30, 3, 3:30, 4 and 4:30 pm. Reservations are encouraged and advance tickets are $4 and at the door, $5. Child care will be provided.
