FARMINGTON — The Franklin Group is pleased to welcome Staff Writer Kay Neufeld to its ranks.

Neufeld, who will write for both The Franklin Journal and the Livermore Falls Advertiser, is a graduate of New York University with a bachelor of arts in journalism and gender & sexuality studies. She was most recently with the Camden Herald/Knox VillageSoup, where she wrote about government, industry and the people in mid-coast Maine, and wrote a regular column about her adventures in the area.

While at NYU, she conducted research for journalist/associate professor David Dent’s work that appeared in Vice, The Daily Beast and The New York Times, and served as an intern focused on politics and policy for vox.com.

“We are thrilled to have hired Kay,” said A.M. Sheehan, managing editor Western Maine Weeklies. “She brings a wealth of experience and we can’t wait to see what stories she will discover and write about.”

Neufeld will replace Andrea Swiedom who is leaving the company to move west and pursue a dream to kayak in Alaskan waters. Neufeld can be reached at kneufeld@sunmediagroup.net.
