NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group begins its 2021 season of exhibits at the Matolcsy Art Center, 480 Main Street, Norway with its very first exhibit of Self Portraits.  These portraits by group members and other local artists may be representational, stylized, whimsical, caricature, or abstract but, we hope, in all cases surprising and delightful.

The show opens Friday, May 21, from five to seven PM, with opening remarks at six o’clock by exhibit curator Jud Pealer and a brief talk by artist Michael Everett about the history of the self-portrait. The show will continue on Saturday, May 22, at noon, and subsequent Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through June 12, from noon to three.

Please join us for this unique event in Norway’s art community.  The Western Maine Art Group’s mission is to provide opportunities for artists and artisans, to provide broad community access to original arts, and to partner with others to create a prosperous cultural environment in Western Maine.  For more information, art classes, demonstrations, and special events sponsored by the WMAG visit westernmaineartgroup.org and facebook.  Our galleries, Main Street Gallery and the Matolcsy Art Center, are free and open to the public.
