DEAR SUN SPOTS: The annual meeting of the Broadview Memorial Cemetery Association will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at the cemetery, 379 East Ave. in Lewiston. The meeting will take place outside, so please dress for the weather.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Hartford Heritage Society would like to send a big thank you to everyone who was part of our plant sale Saturday, May 8. It was a huge success.

Thank you to everyone who donated plants or items for our raffle table, the donation of a load of loam, and especially to all the workers who helped. We’d also like to thank all our customers who bought our plants and raffle tickets. The proceeds will go a long way in restoring the J & O Irish Museum. We hope to see you all back next year at the same time and the same place on the Saturday before Mother’s Day.

Upcoming events for the museum during July and August include tours on Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. You also can schedule an appointment with one of the members to take a tour.

On Aug. 28, we will again be hosting our Antique Auto Show. There are no fees to enter and the first three “Best of Show” awards go away with small prizes. All entries get one of Rosie’s jams or relishes.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: For those who are unaware of Gas Light Park at Lower Lincoln Street in Lewiston, they are missing out. There is parking, a few benches and an unobstructed view of the Androscoggin River where one might see eagles, ducks and geese. Wouldn’t it be great if someone would donate a picnic table? The park is not owned by the city, but by Unitil Corp. and is available for all to enjoy. — Don, Lewiston

ANSWER: That’s a great idea about a picnic table, but since it’s privately owned, you may want to contact Unitil to either get permission or perhaps they would honor your idea and place a picnic table or two there for public use. DEAR SUN SPOTS: I noticed the question about recycling CDs recently in the May 4 Sun Spots. Old CDs can be used to hang in the garden to keep birds away. — Steve, no town
