A Portland man is facing multiple charges after police say he assaulted a woman while displaying a handgun as they waited for a bus on Riverside Street  Thursday morning.

The alleged assault was reported to police around 10:30 a.m. Thursday by a woman who said 41-year-old Marcus Trusty hit her in the face before grabbing her throat. He then displayed a handgun and threatened to shoot her, police said.

The woman told police that she knows Trusty, who police said is from Portland. The incident happened near 155 Riverside St. as the victim and Trusty waited for a bus.

After Trusty was arrested, officers recovered a handgun from a dumpster on Riverside Street, according to police.

Trusty was charged with domestic violence assault, terrorizing, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held without bail in the Cumberland County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
