Doris B. Duplissis

AUBURN – Doris B. Duplissis, 95, formerly of Great Falls Plaza, Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Clover Manor with family members by her side.

On Nov. 13, 1945 she married Romeo J. Duplissis. Together they made their home in New Auburn and raised a family of seven children. Romeo passed away on August 4, 1985.

Doris was first and foremost a devoted mother and homemaker. She worked for many years for St. Louis Parish both at the rectory and the school lunch program. After her children were grown, she worked at Philips Elmet in Lewiston.

She loved visiting her children and grandchildren at their homes in Maine and as well as out of state. Her hobbies included crocheting, especially baptismal sets for her grandchildren, and traveling. Throughout the years she had the opportunity to travel to California, Las Vegas, Hawaii, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Florida, as well as numerous cruises. She loved going “up north” to Van Buren to visit family, to the ocean as well as going to play Bingo and the Casinos.

Doris always looked forward to family get-togethers. The annual family Christmas party was always her favorite where as many as 60 family members would show up to enjoy her famous chicken stew. She was the matriarch of a large family and she will be sadly missed.

Doris is survived by five daughters, Charlene and husband Robert Pelland from Gilford, N.H., Linda Duplissis from Norway, Barbara and husband Kenneth West from South Paris, Sharon McAlister from Lewiston and Pamela Duplissis from Freeport, two sons, Rudy and wife Claire from Greenwood and Carl from Sarasota, Fla. She is also survived by two brothers, Gerald Bard from Van Buren and Clayton Bard from Florida, two sisters, Geraldine Amari from New York and Jacqueline Caldare from California. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by six siblings.

Visitation will be held at the Albert and Burpee Funeral Home, on Sunday, May 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 17 at 1 p.m. at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
