RUMFORD — Lacey Todd of Rumford, a fifth-grade teacher at Regional School Unit 10’s Mountain Valley Middle School in Mexico, has attained her teacher’s National Board Certification as of late February.
Todd spent five years working toward her certification as she also taught at the same time at Regional School Unit 10 schools in Rumford and Mexico. She had to demonstrate accomplished teaching in several areas such as content knowledge, differentiation in instruction, teaching practice and learning environment, and as an effective and reflective practitioner.
Maine offers a $5,000 yearly stipend and RSU 10 moves teachers up one educational tier on the pay scale. RSU 10 also offered an additional $750 stipend beyond that tier for National Board Certification.
