Muriel Deslauriers

LEWISTON – Muriel Deslauriers, 93, widow of Eugene Deslauriers, went to be by the side of her husband and beloved son David on June 3, 2021. She was born on Nov. 27, 1927, the daughter of Robert M. Scott and Hazel Cook Scott.

Since 2009 she had resided at Sabattus Residential Care and Montello Manor. Prior to that she had been a lifelong resident of Union Street in Sabattus.

Muriel received her education in the Sabattus school system graduating Valedictorian from Sabattus High School during the WWII years in a class of three other girls. She went on to attend and graduate from Pelletier’s School of Cosmetology.

After marrying the love of her life Eugene, ” my little french sailor “, they took up residency on Union Steet Sabattus where she opened Muriel’s Beauty Salon and continued it’s operation for 40 years.

When not in her beauty shop you would find Muriel and her family enjoying the great outdoors whether at the family camp on Sabattus pond or somewhere on a lake in her native Maine.

Never being an idle person, when not outdoors, she would be doing beautiful needlepoint or knitting for her grandchildren.

Muriel was a devout Catholic and communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Sabattus. For many years she taught CCD classes, joined parish groups and volunteered to assist for the luncheons at Maxwell Gill Hall after funeral Masses.

She was predeceased by her mother and father and her husband Eugene; brother Gerald Scott and a sister Maxine Scott Nadeau. Also her youngest son David Andrew at age 33.

Survivors include her son Michael and his wife Ann and their three children, Vicki Deslauriers Roy and her husband Paul, Michael Robert Deslauriers II and his companion Stacy, and Amy Deslauriers and her companion Jeff; great-grandchildren, Keagan Deslauriers, Emily Roy, Abriana Deslauriers, Olivia Roy and Isaac Morissette. Also her most kind and loving sister-in-law Irene Boisvert; and five nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 11, at 11 a.m., at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Condolences may be accessed online at http://www.albert-burpee.com.
