2021 scholarship recipient Evan Kelly with Tom Curtis.

POLAND — The Diane E. Curtis Medical Scholarship, started in 2014 to honor the late wife of Thomas H. L. Curtis, a resident of Norway, has been awarded to Evan F. Kelly, the son of Amy and Timothy Kelly and brother to Lucas and Ryan, all of Poland. Evan is currently a senior at Poland Regional High School and his family is justifiably proud of this great accomplishment.

The $1,000.00 scholarship is given annually to a deserving student from either Androscoggin County where Diane received treatment or Oxford County where she resided. This student must be seeking a career in the medical field as well as being a well-rounded and very deserving student. As stated above, Kelly is a senior at Poland Regional High School in Poland and will be attending the University of Southern Maine in Portland starting in September.

The scholarship recipient must complete an application form discussing in what community and volunteering activities he/she has been involved, what leadership qualities he/she has displayed, a transcript of his/her high school, preparatory school or college grades, at least two letters of recommendation and the reasons behind the applicant’s decision to pursue a medical career.

Evan F. Kelly will receive a check for the scholarship amount once he forwards to the Scholarship Committee Chairman a copy of his first semester grades at the University of Southern Maine next winter.

It is our wish that everyone who knows Evan wishes him well in all of his endeavors while in college, medical school and as he pursues his dreams. CONGRATULATIONS EVAN ON A JOB WELL DONE!
