Corey Kotfila of Paris does some planting Thursday at the maze garden at McLaughlin Garden & Homestead in South Paris. Kotfila, who has worked at the garden for about two months, says the grounds typically see about 20 visitors a day, but special events, such as McLaughlin’s recent lilac festival, can attract 1,000 visitors over four days. Kotfila says the garden is between blooming seasons, with a few peonies starting to pop up. Anna Gouveia/Sun Journal
