The Maine Educational Opportunity Center plans to host free individualized sessions in “Essentials of College Planning” for adults 19 and older looking for a new career or returning to higher education.

The virtual sessions are being held at the following dates and times:

• Wednesday, July 7 at 10 a.m.;

• Thursday, July 8 at 10 a.m.;

• Friday, July 9 at 9 a.m.;

• Monday, July 12 at 9 a.m.;

• Tuesday, July 13 at 10 a.m.;

• Wednesday, July 14 at 9 a.m.;

• Thursday, July 15 at 10 a.m.; and

• Friday, July 16 at 9 a.m.

The program helps qualified adults make the transition towards a new career and relevant educational credentials. It provides individualized assistance in career planning, stackable credentials, completion of FAFSA, rehabilitation of defaulted loans, and finding the appropriate funding for education.

The staff provides career advising, college planning, advocacy, matching participants to funding sources, applying for financial aid, assisting in college application completion, application fee waivers for qualified adults, scholarship application completion, and helping develop a plan for a new future.

The individualized session lasts approximately an hour. Registration is encouraged.

The center provides all services free of cost. If these times don’t fit a schedule, contact the center to explore options. All sessions are subject to change.
