Colleen Bulger

RUMFORD – Mrs. Colleen Bulger, 91, died Saturday June 14, 2021, at her home on Prospect Avenue in Rumford.

Born in Rumford, on Dec. 17, 1929, she was a daughter of Wilfred and Alma (Holling) Blanchard. She was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford class of 1948. Colleen worked at the Rumford Hospital as a receptionist.

Colleen was a Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack #581 and received the District Award of Merit, she was a member of the Rumford United Methodist Church and later became a Communicant of the Parish of The Holy Savior, she was a member of the American Legion, and Mollyocket Mixers Square Dance Group. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Rumford Community Home and affectionately know as the “Flower Lady”.

She was married in Rumford, on July 31, 1951 to John A. “Red” Bulger who died in Togus, Maine, on July 5, 2011.

Survivors include two sons, Greg Bulger of Rumford, Gary “Cap” Bulger and wife Joy of Georgia, grandchildren, Hope and Amanda, sisters, Hope Olson of Newton, Pa. and Lois Ross of Rumford, a brother, Jack Blanchard of Rumford. She was predeceased by her husband, John, her son, Michael, sister, Lorraine Strain, brothers, Leon “Sonny” Davis and William Davis.

Funeral services will be private and held at the family’s convenience. Interment will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Rumford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
