LEWISTON — Pastime Club used strong pitching and timely hitting to sweep Bessey Motors 2-1 and 8-2 in an American Legion doubleheader on Saturday.

In the opener, Pastime pitcher Brodi Farinas struck out 12 batters and scattered three hits in a complete-game win. Gavin Rawstrom went 2-for-3 and smacked the game-winning single in the fifth inning, while Luke Josephson added an RBI hit in the first and Michael Dymkoski doubled. Pastime had six hits and did not commit an error.

Cade Truman doubled and scored for Bessey Motors on Eli Soehren’s single. Wyatt Knightly struck out five batters.

 In Game 2, Josh Murphy went 3-for-4 with a double, a three-run homer and scored three times as Pastime, powered by 11 hits, completed the sweep. Damon Bossie added two hits, scored and drove in a run and Rawstrom added an RBI double.

Luke Josephson went five innings for the win, giving up two runs and striking out 11. Brando Farinas got the last six outs for the save.

Cade Truman and Andrew Binette each doubled and scored for Bessey Motors.
