100 Years Ago: 1921

The West Auburn Ladies’ Aid will hold a sale Wednesday afternoon with an entertainment in the evening, The entertainment will include piano and violin music and a farce by the young ladies of the Court Street Baptist Church.

50 Years Ago: 1971

David Chouinard, 5, of Luxton Ave., Rumford, went fishing in Wilson Lake with his father Wilfred Wednesday afternoon. Half an hour after they started fishing. David, using a Mooselook Wobbler, hooked a 19 pound 3 ounce togue which measures 37 inches and has a girth of 20 inches. As soon as  the boy hooked the fish his father reeled it in, but father said David still hooked it. It is to be mounted. This was the only fish caught on this trip.

25 Years Ago: 1996

The new addition to the Ripley Medical Building in Norway, was the scene of an open house and dedication ceremony Sunday. The Caring Tree and new walkway connecting the medical building with Stephens Memorial Hospital were dedicated and the walkway was named the Alice B. Cornwall Walkway in recognition of the Paris Hill resident who led the fund raising drive to make the walkway possible. The Hillsman Chorus performed for members of the public who attended Sunday’s ceremony.
