Rena (Caron) St. Amour

SOUTH PARIS – Rena (Caron) St. Amour, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2021 at the Maine Veteran’s Home in South Paris. Rena, the second oldest of 12 children, was born to Octave and Clementine Caron in St. Anne, New Brunswick, Canada on July 11, 1924. The family moved to Lille during the 1930s and she graduated from Van Buren’s Sacred Heart High School. After high school, the family moved to Auburn where she met her husband, Roland St. Amour. They were married at Sacred Heart Church on Sept. 6, 1947. Roland predeceased Rena by less than five months.

Rena and Roland lived on Prospect Avenue during the early years of their marriage. They built a new home at 34 Webber Ave. where they raised three sons and a daughter.

Rena worked full time from 1943 at various area mills (Bates, Pepperell and Androscoggin) and semi-conductor manufacturers (Fairchild, RCA, Ratheon). Rena retired from Maine Electronics, Lisbon, in 1988. After retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her granddaughter Sarah, while her parents worked.

Rena had a strong belief in her religion, was a devote Catholic and member of Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. Rena was an all-around professional home maker and seamstress. She enjoyed travel, visiting and hosting family, and enjoyed the company of her three grandsons Joshua, Jacob, and Nicholas. Never idle, her hobbies included photography, developing home movies, documenting photo albums, journaling, reading, sketching, painting, sewing, knitting, cooking, and baking the best goodies one could ever experience. Rena always had a positive attitude and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved to laugh and have fun. Rena had many friends and naturally added the joy of life with whomever she met and spent time with. Rena brought magic to all who shared her presence.

Rena was predeceased by Caron siblings Raoul, Albertine, Joan, Octave (Aline), Patrick (Jeannine), Clifford (Betty), Henrietta (Eugene) Audet, Theresa (John) Bernier, and Gemma (Richard) Boutin.

She is survived by her children Robert St. Amour of Bryan Texas, Joline (Michael) Colby of Poland Spring, Michael St. Amour of Lewiston, and Paul (Leola) St. Amour of Poland Spring; grandchildren Joshua Colby of Phoenix, Jacob (Erin) Colby of Norway, Nicholas Colby of Poland Spring and Sarah St. Amour of Auburn, Mass.; siblings Claire (Lou) Pelletier of Roseville Calif., Mariette (Andre) Pare of Harrisburg Pa., and Ann (Roy) Caron of Newington, Conn.; great-grandchildren Aiden, Alex, and Jessie; and many nieces and nephews.
