DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here is an update on the Gas Light Park on lower Lincoln Street in Lewiston. The Unitil Corp., owner of the park, has ordered two cement picnic tables that will be situated on the lawn overlooking the Androscoggin River. There will also be four trash barrels that hopefully picnickers will use.

The park was scheduled to be closed to vehicle traffic due to vandalism, but now a volunteer has been going there nearly every day to pick up trash and try to keep it presentable. I know because I am the soon-to-be 90- year-old volunteer. — Don, Lewiston

ANSWER: This is a follow-up note to May 12 Sun Spots letting  people know what a nice park this is and where you can see eagles and several species of water birds. I am very impressed with you, Don, and I’m putting this out to Sun Spots Land: is there anyone who would be so kind as to help with this effort of keeping the park nice so it isn’t closed down completely?

For people who visit on a regular basis, please take care of your trash and be mindful of others who would like to have a good experience when they use the space.

For those who haven’t been to visit this green space, I hope you check it out soon.
