DEAR SUN SPOTS: My name is Virginia Harris Starbird and I am looking for Connie Lucas Akerly from Lisbon Falls. DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping that readers in Sun Spots Land can help me and my family find information and possibly pictures of our mother’s side of the family. We are looking for information regarding Victor P. Gatchell and his wife, Annie M. Gatchell. They came from the Turner area. Annie passed away in 1923 or 1924. I can be reached at 539-4202 or at [email protected] — Cathy, Oxford

ANSWER: This is way to do it, people! You’d be surprised what and who Sun Spots readers know. Keep us posted on what happens, Cathy!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My mom has a full-size couch that opens into a bed and I have a love seat to donate to someone in need. We are unable to deliver them. We both live in Norway in Town and Country Village. I live only a couple of blocks up the street from her. We want to give them to someone who needs them. Please contact me at [email protected] . Linda, Norway

ANSWER: If you don’t get any takers and you furniture is in good condition, try calling Habitat for Humanity Restore (7 Rivers Maine) in Topsham. The number is 504-9340. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here is an update on the Gas Light Park on lower Lincoln Street in Lewiston. The Unitil Corp., owner of the park, has ordered two cement picnic tables that will be situated on the lawn overlooking the Androscoggin River. There will also be four trash barrels that hopefully picnickers will use.

The park was scheduled to be closed to vehicle traffic due to vandalism, but now a volunteer has been going there nearly every day to pick up trash and try to keep it presentable. I know because I am the soon-to-be 90- year-old volunteer. — Don, Lewiston

ANSWER: This is a follow-up note to May 12 Sun Spots letting  people know what a nice park this is and where you can see eagles and several species of water birds. I am very impressed with you, Don, and I’m putting this out to Sun Spots Land: is there anyone who would be so kind as to help with this effort of keeping the park nice so it isn’t closed down completely?

For people who visit on a regular basis, please take care of your trash and be mindful of others who would like to have a good experience when they use the space.

For those who haven’t been to visit this green space, I hope you check it out soon.
