My wife and I are retired, and we often sit out by Route 4 in East Auburn and watch the traffic in the evening with our golf cart.

We see a lot of nice old cars, and a lot of folks we know who drive by and blow the horn. We are between Roy’s Golf and Gammon’s, four lanes, only no center lane.

The traffic, which goes 70 mph and sometimes faster in a 55 mph zone, is too fast. A driver going north, who crossed the double yellow line and went into the southbound lane to pass cars on a Friday night must have been in a hurry to get home or to camp. All I know is that it was a maroon pickup with a cap.

I know the Auburn Police Department is busy, but if it put a car up here on Route 4 a couple hours a night and wrote out some tickets, it might it very beneficial money-wise.

Just like the old days.
