RUMFORD — Fourth of July fireworks are returning to the Hosmer Field Complex on Sunday.

The Fourth of July Committee and the Rumford Parks Commission are set to mark the holiday Sunday with not only fireworks, but bike, carriage and bicycle parades, games, music, food and raffles. Committee members April McLean, Dan Richard, Marcus Palmer, Ryan Palmer and Bill Porter set the schedule.

The popular decorated wagon/carriage parade will be held on the track at 6 p.m., followed by the decorated bicycle parade at 6:30. There will be a dunk tank, vendors and a 50/50 raffle.

Dorie Oakes of the Rumford Eagles Auxiliary said Gail True and the Girl Scouts will run 15 games for children. Oakes will sell food and provide raffles. The proceeds will go to the Rumford Eagles’ Child Advocacy program.

Richard said Tim LeClerc will open with music at 5:30 p.m. He’s looking for bands and singers, including someone to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the fireworks display. Also needed are volunteers to assist with the bounce house or to participate in the dunk tank. There is still room for vendors, he said.

Richard is inviting the public to volunteer their time to help with the celebration. “If they can donate an hour or two, that would be fantastic,” he said. Those interested may call him at 357-9444.

Central Maine Pyrotechnics of Farmingdale will light the fuses for the fireworks after 9 p.m.

A 5K run will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday at at the Hosmer field track. There is a $20 registration fee and a first-place prize for men and women. Proceeds will be divided between the Mountain Valley High School Falcon football program and the Greater Rumford Community Center, Gary Dolloff said.
