Saint Michael’s

COLCHESTER, Vt. — Forty-four Saint Michael’s College student-athletes were inducted into 14 different academic honor societies during the 2020-21 school year, including five into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and largest academic honor society. Founded in 1776, it promotes excellence in the liberal arts and sciences.

Nineteen of the Purple Knights’ 21 programs had at least one inductee during the 2020-21 school year, with women’s cross country and Nordic skiing – both of which are coached by Molly Peters – leading the way with six apiece. Field hockey (5), women’s soccer (5), women’s lacrosse (4), men’s basketball (3) and women’s volleyball (3) also all had at least three.

This spring, Saint Michael’s inducted 15 student-athletes as its ninth class into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, increasing its membership to 147.

Nordic skiing rising senior Gaelan Boyle-Wight (Newry, Maine/Telstar Regional) was among those inducted, into Chi Alpha Sigma (National College Athlete Honor Society).
