NORWAY — The Select Board voted unanimously Thursday evening to extend the contract of Town Manager Dennis Lajoie for another 18 months, bringing it to December 2022.

The vote followed his evaluation during an executive session with the board citing his good work for the town.

Lajoie was chosen for the position in June 2017 when he replaced longtime Town Manager David Holt. Before Lajoie came onboard, the town had just two managers in 43 years.

In other business, the board accepted $773.17 for the sale of scrap iron and placed the money, at the suggestion of Highway Department Foreman Art Chappell, in the safety protective gear line for the department.

Central Maine Power had its request approved to replace six poles on Gore Road, starting at the intersection of Route 117 with two taller poles. The board also approved a new pole on Eddie Kahkonen Road.

The board also approved a sewer abatement request from Joyce Beaudoin of 8 Lake Road for $120.47 due to a broken pipe under her trailer.

A public hearing on winter roads will be held during the board’s next meeting Aug. 5.
