LEWISTON — Museum L-A has announced that the admission fee to its gallery featuring the “Our Working Waterway” exhibit that presents multiple facets of the Androscoggin River, will be waived during the Androscoggin Riverfest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 24. Donations are welcome.

The family-oriented activities of the festival will take place on the riverfront near Museum L-A’s future home in the Camden Yarns Mill on Beech Street, opposite Simard-Payne Park in Lewiston. The day of free admission to the museum occurs during the festival’s exhibition regatta.

Peter Rubins, chairman of the Grow L+A’s River Working Group, encourages everyone who lives near the Androscoggin River to see Museum L-A’s exhibit, according to a news release from the museum. The historical perspective gives one a view of how far we have come from being one of the top 10 polluted rivers in the country, up to the current proposed reclassification to Class B.” Rubins will be on hand at the museum to provide additional information.

“Museum L-A’s river exhibit fits perfectly into Riverfest weekend. This is the ultimate river experience — both outside and inside! Many thanks to AndroAlive for spearheading this creative effort,” said Audrey Thomson, executive director of Museum L-A.
