Emma Bodwell, a longtime member of the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club, plans to discuss her visit to Columbia, the Rotary Fair and project visits at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St. Bridgton.

Bodwell, who chairs the District International Services Committee, visited Columbia in February 2020 right before the pandemic closed the borders. She plans to talk about the projects highlighted at the Rotary Fair in Cartagena as well as those she and several other district Rotarians visited during their week-long journey to the country.

She plans to share her experiences through a slide show, and will likely have recommendations for projects for the club and others in the district to pursue.

Jessica Putnam, president of the club, hosted the first meeting of her year leading it July 8. She welcomed new District Governor Dick Hall, a longtime Rotarian and a member of the Portland Rotary Club. Two-thirds of the members and five guests, 20 participants overall, gathered at the Bridgton Community Center.

Future summer meetings will be in-person, via Zoom, or hybrid. Check the calendar at lakeregionrotary.com for the location and agenda for meetings.

For Zoom meetings, email George Szok at gszoksbox@gmail.com for the access link. For in-person meetings, masks will be required without proof of vaccination.
